Service Description: The Great Lakes shoreline classification composite dataset is a composite of the environmental sensitivity atlas (ESA) from Environment Canada (EC) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) shoreline descriptors. The ESA data ranges in dates from 1987 through the late 1990s, and the ACOE shoreline descriptions are from the 2012 oblique imagery interpetation. The full shoreline class descriptions were reviewed for both datasets and harmonized into 6 common classes, which were further simplified into 3 classes for aquatic habitat classification purposes.
